Vampire at Chessington World of Adventures
Vampire is one of our favourite roller coasters in the country. Installed in Chessington World of Adventures in 1990, this Arrow Suspended roller coaster was from the mind of John Wardley and it travels through Transylvania and through the forests of Chessington.
Its, for the most part, quite a tame ride, not picking up a lot of speed, creating thrills by swinging out and creating near misses with the scenery.
There are two lift hills during the course of the ride, the ride getting more intense after the second lift as it whips over the top of the main Transylvania area and diving through a tunnel creating an extreme swing outwards.
It originally operated with closed bottom cars, but these were replaced for the 2002 season after Vampire stood not operating, and it now runs with new Vekoma floorless trains giving a very different experience.
